Dr. Michael Brown

Dr. Michael Scott Brown is a professor in the Information Systems Department at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Previously, he was the Graduate Program Director of the Online Masters in Information Systems and five related Graduate Certificates at UMBC.

Biography

Dr. Michael Scott Brown is a professor in the Information Systems Department at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Previously, he was the Graduate Program Director of the Online Masters in Information Systems and five related Graduate Certificates at UMBC.

Prior to joining UMBC, Dr. Brown was the Program Director of Computer Science at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), formally University of Maryland University College. He managed the Software Engineering Masters, Database System Technology Masters, Computer Science Bachelors and the Computer Studies Associates degrees. This responsibility included managing over 160 faculty members, 40 courses and around 15,000 student enrollments per year. He has taught over 150 college course sections at 12 universities. In 2019 he was awarded a Fulbright grant to do research abroad at General Tadeusz Kosciuszko Land Forces Military University in Wroclaw Poland. He also worked at the NASA/WVU Software Research Laboratory which was a research arm of the NASA Independent Verification and Validation center in Fairmont WV.

He was the founder and CEO of Valhalla Data Systems, Inc. that held contracts at Department of Defense, Department of Labor, US Postal Service and other large government agencies. As a CACI employee he was the Technical Manager for all Business Process Automation at a large federal law enforcement agency.
